RedR Australia’s International Humanitarian Law (IHL) course is part of our Essential Frameworks series, designed to provide professionals with an in-depth understanding of the legal frameworks governing humanitarian response during conflicts and disasters.

The course is in English and you need to have a reasonable proficiency of the English language.

Aims and Objectives

The overall aim of the course is to improve and deepen knowledge of, and respect for, IHL within the humanitarian and development sector by providing participants with;

  • A solid understanding of the fundamentals of IHL, and
  • Opportunities to apply key IHL concepts and principles in practice, through experiential learning techniques.

  • Describe the relevance of IHL to your own work and the work of your organisation.
  • List and explain key IHL sources, concepts, principles and considerations 
  • Build confidence in engaging in professional discussions and advising colleagues on the fundamentals of IHL and related considerations in humanitarian work

Course Fees

Full rate: AUD $650.00

Inclusions: Tuition, training materials, lunch, morning and afternoon tea. Please note, accommodation and travel is NOT included.

Course fees are in Australian dollars and can be paid in full via credit card through our secure payment facility. Organisations are able to request to receive an invoice.

Essential Course Information

This is a one-day, intensive, classroom based course. 

Course Timing

The course will run 8.30am - 5.30pm. To receive your course certificate you must complete the entire course.

Travel and Accommodation

Please arrange your own travel to and from our training venues. Accommodation is NOT included in the course fee.
