RedR Australia are thrilled to appoint our newest board member Josephone Hutton OAM. With more than 25 years’ experience as a senior manager, leader and advisor in development, humanitarian contexts and fragile states, Josephine Hutton is an ideal selection as a new RedR Australia board member.
With experience working with institutional donors, international organisations, and NGOs across the globe, in a range of complex and vulnerable settings. Josephine has deployed into conflict zones in Iraq, Kosovo, and Liberia, and managed teams in Palestine, and Yemen.
Additionally, she has established humanitarian operations in Macedonia in response to the Kosovo crisis and led a field team in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami. She is currently a Program Portfolio Manager with CARE Australia.
Josephine's career has been recognised with The Order of Australia for her humanitarian leadership; the Sir Edward Weary Dunlop Medal as part of the Queen's Trust Awards; the Sir Zelman Cowan award as part of a Chevening Scholarship to study a master’s degree in the United Kingdom; as well as being a distinguished alumnae of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and the University of Canberra.
Josephine has been a part of the RedR Australia family since 2002 as an Associate Trainer, developer of training content, and Training Coordinator and served on the RedR Australia board from 2011-2012. She is passionate about investing in the professionalism of the humanitarian sector and strengthening resilience with communities affected by conflict, climate change and disasters.
Josephine has a BSSc in Socio-Environmental Assessment and Policy, a Graduate Diploma in Education and an MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development.
