Outstanding participant satisfaction
We’re proud of our training courses’ exceptionally high satisfaction ratings.
At our recent HEAT course held in Greater Melbourne, Australia, we received an overall satisfaction rating of 99 per cent from our participants. All RedR Australia training courses are a team effort, and this outstanding result is reflective of our highly skilled trainers, support staff and students.
One graduate commented that it was, “incredibly useful and a ‘must’ before deployment to high-risk contexts”, while another participant reported that the course is “a must do” and it’s the “best course you will ever experience.”
Others commented on the professionalism of the course, with a participant saying it was “excellent, comprehensive, and a safe learning environment to practice making decisions under pressure and with a team”, all ideal experiences before heading into the field.

Meanwhile, in Fiji earlier this year, an enthusiastic group of students in our EHP course gave their trainers a satisfaction rating of 98 per cent, which is testament to the dedication of our much-loved training team.
A EHP participant comment that they “highly recommend for anyone looking to enhance their understanding of humanitarian systems worldwide and build essential skills in this area” while another reflected that “it is a must for anyone who is working in disaster response or interested in becoming a humanitarian responder”.
In FY24, the average participant satisfaction rating for our courses was 94 per cent. As a comparable benchmark, QILT found that for undergraduate students in Australian universities in 2023, the average satisfaction rating was 76 per cent.
Increasing inclusion
In the past year, we’ve continued to increase our support for people with disabilities through our Disability Inclusive Training Initiative.
We supported four people with disabilities to attend our courses in Australia and Fiji, including two roster members. Reasonable accommodations were made, including additional support people to accompany participants attending the EHP course in Fiji and the HEAT course in Australia.
Additionally, our course content specifically addresses gender and disability inclusion issues and provides lessons that support participants to create positive change at the individual, organisational and sector level.
A participant from a Fijian development organisation recently reported, “Since the [RedR Australia] training, we have delivered a localised training for disability inclusion and have better awareness in executing communications and advocacy outputs for my organisation.” We’re proud of the positive impact our training courses are having.

Our courses equip people with a deep understanding of the fundamentals and practical realities of disaster response. They also help participants to mitigate safety and security risks during crises and conflicts.
Participants report improvements in their individual skills in emergency response coordination, as well as implementing policy changes at an organisational level.
Participants also report improved situational awareness, with courses like the Hostile Environment Awareness Training course enabling better planning for evacuations and improved skills in dangerous settings.
