The AWE Recognition Awards formally recognise and honour women in emergency management and disaster resilience. The winners of the 2024 Awards come from a wide range of organisations across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
We are proud to see Everlyn recognised for her outstanding work in gender-responsive disaster risk reduction in the Solomon Islands. As a National Gender and Resilience Officer with UN Women, deployed by RedR Australia, Everlyn has made a significant impact by empowering women, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups, ensuring their voices are central to disaster planning. Everlyn’s leadership and commitment to building more resilient communities is truly inspiring.
AWE President Bridget Tehan says, “The breadth and depth of the skills, experience and expertise of the recipients of this year’s awards is extraordinary. Everyone’s contribution is vital, whether it is as a leader or working behind the scenes; whether it’s before, during or after disasters, or across the whole continuum.
Collectively our Award recipients paint a picture of the whole of emergency management and disaster resilience across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific – one where everybody has a role to play, from leaders and front-line responders to technical experts, researchers, trainers and volunteers.
The work of our 2024 Award recipients makes an important contribution to keeping all our communities safe, and we are thrilled to celebrate and honour them through the 2024 AWE Recognition Awards.”
