RedR Australia added to its collection of international offices in May when the Pacific office in Suva, Fiji was officially opened, following the Amman office launch in February.
The space was opened to provide ongoing support to those who are deployed through RedR Australia into the Pacific, and to the UN agencies with whom RedR Australia partners.
RedR Australia CEO Kirsten Sayers was joined by Australian High Commissioner to the Republic of Fiji H.E. John Feakes, who addressed guests at the event.
“Australia is proud to partner with humanitarian leaders RedR Australia, through the Australia Assists program, bringing high quality assistance to Fiji and the Pacific in times of need,” Mr Feakes said.
There are currently more than 10 technical specialists deployed into the Pacific region through the Australia Assists program, supporting nationally- and locally-led efforts in disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery in Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga and Papua New Guinea.
RedR Australia Regional Manager Mark Brooking said he was delighted to be establishing the new office in Suva, providing ongoing assistance and training under the Australia Assists program for the Pacific region moving forward.
