International Women's Day 2025

Earlier this month, to mark International Women’s Day, RedR Australia coordinated an enlightening discussion, “Disaster equity: a gendered perspective”.

Facilitated by RedR Australia’s Sally Cunningham, our panel of experienced humanitarians, Georgina Galbraith, Hannah Jay and Jess Letch, shared their powerful insights on gender and disaster response, drawing from their experiences in the field. From challenges in crisis situations to solutions for more inclusive humanitarian action, this conversation is a must-watch.

"We really need to maintain a long-term view. It’s true we are in quite challenging times, but we also need to see the gains as humanity over the last 200 years, 50 years or 30 years and we need to hold on to that optimism that drives us forward. There are millions of people who are working every day at the local up to the national and global level to improve the situation for themselves and their communities and we need to keep looking for the positive stories."—Jess Letch, humanitarian
