Australia Assists deployees honoured on World Humanitarian Day

On World Humanitarian Day 2019, we joined the United Nations in honouring the work of women in crises throughout the world.

In a wide-ranging media campaign, the spotlight was put on five Australia Assists technical specialists deployed across the globe: Suzanne Wargo (Cox’s Bazar), Camilla Bachet (Cox’s Bazar), Petra Letter (Fiji), Nim Khuman (Vanuatu), and Carly Learson (Cox’s Bazar and Middle East), who were each profiled in media outlets both nationally and abroad.

Below are links to some of the day’s media highlights:

  • SBS Digital Radio and Online: Australian women staying behind in humanitarian crises across the world
  • ABC Radio Mornings with Jon Faine: interview with Camilla about helping design reservoirs to provide water security for Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar
  • ABC Online & Central West: feature about Carly’s humanitarian journey
  • 6PR Mornings Program with Gareth Parker: Petra about her protection work in the Pacific Islands
